    IRON CHEF JUDY JOO

    No big deal.

Just a fresh take on shooting a chef.

    Perfectly executed.

    Move on…

  2. Even though I’ve taken the (very) occasional photo of a meal, I am still totally in favor of this.  The flash is the worst.

Rare Photo of the Mushroom Cloud Over Hiroshima Discovered in a Japanese Elementary School

The picture is a rare glimpse of the bomb’s immediate aftermath, showing the distinct two-tiered cloud as it was seen from Kaitaichi, part of present-day Kaita, six miles east of Hiroshima’s center. […]

The person who took this photo would have been among the first to look out there and realize that this wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill bomb. It wasn’t the air raid that the citizens of Hiroshima had been anticipating for months. This was the beginning of a new world.

I can’t even imagine what the person taking this photo must have been thinking at the time. Was it more curiosity than terror? Was it just incredulity? Either way, this is a remarkable find.

  5. Good stuff.  I’ll make an effort to get there!

    Announcing my first photo show:

Opening Reception Friday, February 8, 4:30PM-6:30PM at the office of Supervisor Jane Kim, City Hall Room 282

    Hope to see you there!

  6. Quite simply, this is the only thing I miss about drinking black coffee, and during those rare hot San Francisco days, sometimes I’ll get an iced coffee just so I can pour a bit of half-and-half in there and see this.  Because it’s gorgeous.

  7. We don’t like having photos of ourselves on our Christmas cards so we opt for shots of the dogs.  These aren’t quite right, I think, but nice to know the Tibetan is so posable.  It’s impossible to get a decent photo of the two of them together though; the black and white just wreaks havoc on every setting I’ve tried.

  8. Kind of embarrassed how hard I laughed at this.

  11. I’ve seen what can only be accurately described as a bajillion baseball photos.  It’s men sliding into second, outfielders diving for a ball, a pitcher in mid-delivery.  But this one - this one is a first.
